About Laura Jacques Laura has more than 25 years of professional experience as an illustrator in the fields of advertising and publishing. Her specialty is illustrating and designing projects that focus on wildlife, nature and environmental awareness for children. She recently illustrated "Baby Owls' Rescue" (Fall 2009) for Sylvan Dell Publishing. She has also illustrated "Whistling Wings", "At Home in the Rain Forest", "Wildlife Refuge; A Classroom Adventure", and "Sweet Magnolia". Her books have won several honors and awards, including: The
"NSTA-CBC Outstanding Science Trade Books for Children"
sponsored by the Children's Book Council In 2008, Laura was chosen by the Rocky Mountain National Park's Superintendent to participate in their Artist-in-Residence Program in Colorado. Her work will be used by the park's Next Generation Program and Fund, whose mission is to engage children in nature and interest them in becoming environmental stewards for the future of our National Parks and the communities in which they live. Currently, Laura is designing, illustrating and writing for Clay-Mates' "Collect & Protect" Endangered Species Series, developed in concert with Catalysem, Inc. d/b/a Clay-Mates International, Barnes & Noble Booksellers and the Jane Goodall Institute. She is the author and illustrator of "My Own Nature Journal" and the Clay-Mates "Collect & Protect" Endangered Species Series Pocket Guides. 10% of all wholesale sales of this product line are donated to "Roots & Shoots", the Jane Goodall Institute's global environmental and humanitarian program for youth of all ages.
